Party Snacks Forminhas/canapé

Goan forminhas/canapés are cute little snacks usually served at most parties/weddings and other gatherings in Goa. it’s a delicious bite of snack enjoyed with vegetarian or non-vegetarian fillings or any filling of your choice.


Ingredients:

For the filling:

👉1cup finely diced potatoes

👉1 cup finely chopped french beans

👉1cup finely chopped carrots

👉1/2 cup frozen peas

👉4 tbsp mayonnaise

👉1/4 tsp black pepper powder

👉salt to taste


Method:

👉Wash, peel and dice the potatoes and the carrots fine.we need 1 cup of carrots and potatoes, when done keep it aside.

👉Wash the french beans and chop off the ends and cut it fine,keep it aside.


👉Heat up a medium pot on a medium heat add in 6 cups of water give it a boil, as the water starts boiling add in salt to taste and the potatoes let it boil for 1 min then add in carrots,french beans and last the peas give it a boil .don’t over cook the vegetables too much.

👉Drain the vegetables in a strainer let it cool,keep it aside.


👉Take a bowl add the drained and cooled vegetables add in 4 tbsp of mayonnaise mix it well add in black pepper powder mix it all up.our filling is ready to go in the canapé.

For making the canape:

👉2 cups flour

👉3 tbsp ghee

👉1/4 tsp salt

👉water for kneeding

👉1 litre oil for deep frying the canapé

Method:

👉In a bowl pour in flour,ghee,salt mix it well then add in little water and kneed the flour well into a soft dough.


👉Divide the dough into small balls into equal parts place a ball on a rolling board and roll into a fine chapati,with the help of a cookie cutter cut it into Circles,repeat the same for the rest of the dough.


👉Take the tart mould and place the round circle into the mould and press it gently into the mould and shape it ,remove the excess dough which is out of the tart,on top,repeat the same for the rest of the moulds.stack the moulds each on top of the other in three and tie it with a thread and put a knot so that its tight and the moulds doesn't come out or loose its shape,repeat the same with the others.



👉Heat up a wide and deep frying pan add in a litre of oil on a medium heat fry the tied moulds in the hot oil,fry it until light brown remove it when done and let it cool when cooled cut the thread and demould the canapé


👉Place each canape on a plate and fill a spoon full of the above made filling or any fillings of your choice.


For baked canapés:

👉Take a filo pastry sheet and cut into half and place it into a cup cake mould tray and bake it into a preheated oven for 3 mins until crisps or light brown.when done put the ready filling in the canapés.


👉Enjoy these absolutely delicious tarts.
