Goan fish cutlets (mackerel)

As a child we knew this cutlets as ALMONA. My grandmother used to make it very tasty, couldn't stop at eating just one. This delicious fish cutlet can be eaten with the main meal or as an appetiser.

Do try this delicious recipe of almona


Ingredients

👉2 fresh mackerels

👉2 medium chopped onions

👉1 medium chopped tomato

👉1 tsp vinegar

👉Handful of Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped

👉1/2 tsp Cumin powder

👉1/2 tsp turmeric powder

👉1/2 tsp black pepper powder

👉2 green chillies finely chopped

👉2 tbsp Oil

👉1 slice of bread(soaked and squeeze from water)

Semolina for coating

👉1 egg

👉Salt to taste


Method:

👉Clean the mackerels, cut the head off as we don’t require it.

👉In a pot place the cleaned mackerels, add some water just above the mackerels.Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, add little vinegar and salt.


👉Boil this together for 10mins, after boiling leave it to cool. When it cools down separate the flesh from the bones keep it aside


👉In a frying pan add 1 tbsp oil,chopped onion, fry until translucent,Add the ginger garlic paste sauté,chopped tomatoes,1/4 tsp turmeric powder,

Cumin powder,Black pepper powder

Chopped green chillies and Coriander leaves, fry it all together,until all combined, when done,let it cool down


👉Add the boiled fish meat to the above cooled mixture combine altogether

add some salt add the egg..little vinegar...mix this all upadd the bread to bind it,mix this all together


👉Now take small portions from the mixture and roll it into a small balls to form a cutlet


👉Coat it with semolina, heat up a frying pan add some oil, when it is hot add the cutlets into batches of five depending on the size of your frying pan to the hot oil, shallow fry by flipping on both the sides,fry until light brown


👉Your delicious cutlets are ready to eat
