Masoor dal tadka is a delicious Indian lentil curry made with red lentils. It is popular,easy to make,flavourful and healthy. Easily available in most of of the grocery stores They’re super cheap and cook quickly making them a great choice for a simple weeknight meal. Do try this simple recipe.
Ingredients:
👉3/4 cup masoor dal(red lentils)
👉4 cloves of garlic
👉1 tsp mustard seeds
👉1 tbsp ghee
👉1 tsp cumin seeds
👉1/2 tsp red chilly powder
👉1/2 tsp kasuri methi(dry fenugreek leaves)
👉1tsp salt
👉1/2 tsp turmeric powder
👉1 chopped onion
👉1 chopped tomato
Method:
👉In a bowl take the 3/4 cup of dal add some water and wash it thoroughly and drain the water.
👉Take a pressure cooker add the washed dal to it add 1 1/2 cup of water in the pressure cooker add salt,turmeric powder,chopped onion and tomato
👉On a medium flame ,pressure cook the dal until 2 whistles. When cool open the lid and keep it aside.
For the tadka
👉Heat up a small pan add in ghee on a medium flame when hot add mustard seeds to it let it splatter to that add the crushed together cumin seeds and garlic than add the kasuri methi fry it for 20secs or until you get nice aroma. Switch off the gas and then add red chilly powder
👉Add the above tadka to the pressure cooked dal and mix it altogether,by giving it a boil of 5mins.
👉Add some water if you find the gravy a bit thick, I have maintained a medium consistency by adding little more water, now check for salt.
👉And your masoor dal tadka is ready to serve.
👉Serve with your hot piping rice or chapati
👉I like it as it is,like an Indian lentil soup.
