These sweet buns are widely available in any local restaurants in Goa and mostly eaten during breakfast or evening tea time.They are sweet deep fried bread made of banana,flour,yogurt and sugar and are very delicious.I miss the buns from GOA,Just taught of trying my hands on them.
Ingredients:
1 Banana
2 tbsp sugar
1 cup all purpose flour
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp ghee
1 tbsp yogurt
1ltr Oil for deep frying the buns
Method:
1. In a bowl peel and mash the banana with a fork. Add in sugar and keep mashing until nice and mushy
2. Add in yogurt, add in baking powder,cumin seeds, turmeric powder,ghee, salt and last add the flour. Combine everything together to form a dough. do not add water.
3.Let it rest for 4 to 5 hours
4.Divide the dough into small balls.Take a rolling board dust the rolling board with sufficient flour, place a ball on the board and roll it into round shape with medium thickness ,not too thin make as many as you can
5.Heat up a deep frying pan, on a medium flame, add in oil, when the oil is hot enough leave in gently each bun one at a time, deep fry the buns until golden.Drain on paper towel
6.serve hot with warm tea
